If you’re a child growing up in poverty in the UK, being let down by politicians is all you’ve ever known.

You’ve been going to bed hungry. Left out of school trips. Missing out on fun with friends - while people in power slash your family’s support to the bone. We simply can't afford for things to stay this way any longer.

With a new Government in office, change could be on the horizon – and decades of research have shown that a few simple steps would lift one million children out of poverty in the UK.

Steps like making free school meals available to all pupils; scrapping the two-child limit and benefit cap; and increasing child benefit by £20 a week for all children. These policies are entirely workable and would transform lives for families across the UK.

Change is possible, but it will take thousands of us speaking out and pressing the new Prime Minister to take bold action for children trapped in poverty.
